Antipode Presents an open project: “ RED DOOR ”
The motto: “Intra bonus, exi melior”
( Enter Good, Exit the Best )
THE RED DOOR IS AN INVITATION
YOU CAN OPEN IT EASILY
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT TO SEE?
IS IT A DOOR TO THE ABODE OF TROLL OR
INTO THE MAGIC GARDEN?
IS IT JUST A GAME OR … JUST LIFE?

“Vodka, Russian mafia,
White bears walk the streets of Moscow,
It is cold .............. and no-one works.”
Curiously, Russia has her own set of prejudiced views
onto every country without exception, crying out “Danger!”
And if this helps someone to get a life… Why not?
They would scare us with the Germans or Americans
when we were kids.
But we listened to Bach and Armstrong
never feeling them dangerous.
We cite Nietzsche and Shakespeare,
we grew up with Kalevala, Icelandic and Irish sagas,
by first notes we can tell Mozart from Vivaldi
and by smallest fragment, Gauguin from Van Gogh.
With our eyes closed we can draw
the plan of St Peter’s Cathedral in Rome or St Mark’s in Venice.
We smile and feel warmer at the sight at Uta and Eckhart.
But we do not know a thing about each other!
Because all of this is our own private feelings.
Of course we know that Homer is Greek, but subjectively,
because he is from Our Own Private Greece
that lives inside us.
It was only this summer that we learned that
Erasmus of Rotterdam was a Dutchman.
Did we not know it?
Of course but somehow non-actively.
We muse at American movies with Russian characters in,
and this is why we stop believing
the “Beautiful Picture” of Viet Nam and China
provided to us in American interpretation.
We want to stop using the "second-hand" opinion.
Russian audience is curious, and
we would not like to humiliate it with an adapted substitute.
